Double Color X Swipe

Hi everyone! Today I am going to be trying out a new fluid art swipe design! It will be in a cool "X" pattern where I will be bridging 2 color schemes between black and white!

First Up! Jet Black is layed down in an "X" Shape to generate a foundational structure within this piece! Next, it is outlined by Pure White on the sides only! This is to give the colorings some separation. Notice that the black is much thicker than the white paint. This was done to enhance depth, which, will give it more of a 3D affect.

On the sides, I've layered Sugar Beet Pink, Pink Chrysanthemum and Hot Pink with the white. On the Top and Bottom, I've layered Tanzanite Blue, Tropics Green and Sheer Lime Green.

To Start the Swipe, I am using higher quality paper towel to be absorbent, as well as, to help pull the colors together. This is the tricky part! I adhere the paper towel specifically only to the top edge of the white color, as this is the only color I want to swipe through the pinks. As some of the white paint was a bit too much, I went back over it to grab more pink into contrast.

Because of my angle, and the angle of the camera, it was easier for me to swipe the darker colors with my pie spatula. Also, I used a heavy amount of paint in this piece since I wasn't using any pillow paint and wanted to ensure excellent coverage of paint on the canvas. Just as I was doing with the Pure White Swipe into pinks, with the darker sections, I am pulling from the top edges of the Jet Black, down onto the cool colors. This will help to keep the integrity of the, "X" Shape, intact and provide for smooth gliding of the "X" colors onto their respective matches.

For this piece, I did use 2-3 drops of crafting silicone oil per color cup to enhance the cells to form.

Lastly, a quick torching to pop any air bubbles and to encourage more cell formation. Then- Its done!
